Enjoy a relaxing stay at a quaint remodeled cabin on AuTrain Lake. This cabin is a wonderful getaway for a couple or families with young children. Each day at this cabin will offer a variety of ways to relax or any number of recreational options. Two bedrooms are available with full size beds in each and a fun loft with 2 twin beds. An indoor stone fireplace is available along with an outdoor fire pit for those evening bonfires. All the appliances are new and a fully outfitted kitchen is available. Sip your coffee at the kitchen countertop made from a giant white pine or on the comfortable lawn furniture in front of the lake. Au Train Lake has a sandy bottom for swimming, tubing, waterskiing and boating. You can swim right in front of the cabin or take a one minute kayak to a sandbar for another swimming option that we named “ the cove”. A dock is available about 30 feet from the cabin door and also available is a fun foam swimming raft for kids and the whole family to enjoy. Fishing has been a big hit with catches of walleye, northern pike, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. Four river kayaks are available for rental. Kayak in the Lake or take a float down the nearby Au Train River with its beautiful landscape of plants and wildlife to see like waterfowl, turtles and lily pads. Black Ducks, and Eagles are seen seasonally at the cabin along with meteor showers and fireflies. Fall asleep to the croaking of frogs and if you’re lucky you might wake up to the soothing sound of loons in the morning. The AuTrain River outlet is a five minute kayak from the cabin. Canoe or kayak from the cabin down the Au Train River to one of several access points or the more adventurous could paddle all the way to Lake Superior. Lake Superior is 3 miles by road from the cabin along with Au Train's famous swimming area where the Au Train River dumps into Lake Superior. Many waterfalls are nearby along with the beautiful Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Munising. This cabin offers relaxation or lots of activity options for each family member to enjoy.

There are 94 steps going down to the lake, but there is a public access launch and dock are included with home. Au Train lake is an all sports Lake up to 60' deep hosting some of the largest Northern Pike and Bass you will find in the Upper Peninsula. Cottage is located in the MIDDLE of the Hiawatha National Forest and features 1000's of acres of federal public land - great for hiking among trails, nature sight seeing and the like. Cottage is also located Just 20 minutes away from Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and Just 5 mins from Au Train River - A great place to kayak and canoe all day. Perfect location for the outdoor enthusiast - or someone who simply wants to enjoy an amazing lake! You won't get any cell phone service here, and if you choose to use the canoe, paddleboat, or 12' boat you do at your own risk. You do have to put those items back, or there is a $100 fine. Paddleboat is extremely heavy, and boat launch on the property requires you to get wet in order to launch it (and when you are done with it you need to get it out of water and turn it upside down - which will require you to get wet).

DA Spruce is a bigger one bedroom Log Cabin. The original part of the cabin is nearly 100 years old and was added on to in the 50's. The old logs are still in tact and make for a very authentic feel inside. This place is perfect for a couple, or a small family. The kitchen is fully stocked and has a dining table for 4. There is A/C, WiFi, and a 42" TV with cable. There is a queen in the bedroom and two futons in the living room, with plenty of room to move around. Cabin could easily accommodate 4 or 5 adults. New in 2017, a large bathroom was installed with a 36" shower stall and adjoining closet area for guests luggage and gear. 2016 was it's first rental season in 25 years, and since people couldn't have been happier. If you want to step back in time but have modern amenities available, this is your place! The Hemlock Cottage just got a complete makeover in May 2020! It is within steps of the river, and has a very unique feel to it. When we started the remodel, we found original cedar logs behind the paneling. The cottage was originally built in the 40's using local cedar. We restored the old logs and made them a center piece. The layout is small, but spacious for it's size and easily accommodates guests. It is perfect for couples but can sleep up to 3. The kitchen is fully stocked and there's seating for 3 at the dining bar. There is A/C, WiFi, and a 43" TV with internet streaming service. The bedroom has a nice queen pillow-top mattress. The kitchen is very spacious for such a small space. there is plenty of counter top and the old original sink from the 50's is still in use. The nice new deck outside is perfect for a relaxing view of the river and general lounging. The AuTrain River provides excellent swimming, and canoeing/kayaking as it winds 12 miles through the Hiawatha National Forest. The Cedar Cottage was my first cottage, I completely updated the interior and exterior of this place in 2009. It is perfectly setup for couples. The kitchen is fully stocked, there is A/C, WiFi and there is a 32" TV with internet streaming service. The bedroom has a pillowtop Queen which is very comfortable. Overall, it has tons of character as the walls are all original pine from the 1940's and overall has that UP feel. I have been told it's "very cabiny", cozy and cute.... It is an open concept with cathedral ceiling and a nice sized loft. There is plenty of space and it easily accommodates 2-8 guests. This cottage is generally the most favored due to it's size and character. The front porch is big and it overlooks the river and has the best view of them all. There is a 43" HDTV w/Netflix streaming and WiFi along with plenty of seating in the living room area. There is a nice expandable dining table "circa 1950's" that will seat everyone staying. The Mountain Ash Cottage has tons of character. The interior is all pine and the layout is unique. I have done a lot of custom work inside this cottage to bring out that UP feel. Warm inviting cabin located in Au Train, Michigan. Look out your window and watch the gentle river flow, or better yet, sit on the large covered porch. Either way, you won't be farther than 50 feet from the water. If you're looking for adventure, this area has it all. Hiking biking, ATV's, snowmobile trails right down the road. But this river is known for its kayak and canoeing. It stretches nearly 10 miles, yet you end up 0.5 miles from where you started. Fish in the river or head up to Au Train lake. This cabin is just 3 blocks from Lake Superior and the best beach in da Yoop! There is a private fenced in yard for pets and kids. There is a stall in the garage that is available for your use as well. The ATV/snowmobile trail is right there too, as it runs along M28 and Lake Superior. Easy access to everything in our area. Cabin is perfect for guests looking to have a home base centrally located to all our area has to offer. Snowmobile and ATV riders will appreciate the close proximity to the trail and gas station as well as the garage stall that is available. For those looking to hike, bike and kayak, the trails and waterfalls are within 20 minutes and the river is just blocks away. Pictured Rocks Cruise is 15 minutes away and if you are here to kayak the Pictured Rocks, the guide company is just across the street. The Cabin is setup for up to 8-10 people. There is a queen bed in two of the bedrooms and the third bedroom has bunks with 4 twin beds. The living room does have a full size pullout couch for additional sleeping as well. The kitchen is fully stocked as any normal home would be, including pots and pans, plates, utensils etc.... It includes everything one would need to cook for 8 people. There is also a gas grill included outside. All linens are included, (sheets, pillows, blankets, towels) Paper towels and toilet paper.

Munising is the start of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and there's days worth of activities there and the surrounding area. See over a dozen waterfalls all within 30 minutes from the Cabin. The cabin is done completely in custom woodwork. As you enter, you'll see the homemade barn doors for bedrooms and hallway closets. As you walk past, you will enter the main living area that is all an open concept and all done in custom woodwork. There's locally sourced Hemlock walls and homemade rustic cabinets. The Kitchen is part of the open concept that is perfect for anyone who likes to cook. With a central stove and counter area, the cook can engage with the other group members as they sit around the bar that goes around the kitchen or watch TV while they cook. In the corner of the cabin is a homemade wet bar, (no liquor, SORRY!) The main bathroom is large and has a custom steel shower, the other bathroom is in the back off the laundry room and has a full size tub and shower. In the bedrooms, one has a king, the other has a queen and the 3rd bedroom has a full on bottom and twin on top for sleeping accommodations for 7. All of the 3 bedrooms have smart TV's. The Woodland Retreat is located in the town of AuTrain and is only minutes from Pictured Rocks and Lake Superior. Take a 10 minute walk to AuTrain Beach and enjoy the river or Lake Superior, or to just catch the sunset. The AuTrain River is across the street and you can use the area to launch the boat or canoe/kayaks. The property has lots of trees and is secluded from the neighbors. There is a really nice campfire area setup to enjoy the outdoors and relax after a long day of exploring. This home is newly renovated for 2021! The home is very accommodating, tons of seating areas and all of the amenities available. There are 2 bedrooms and two full bathrooms. A queen in one and a bunk bed with full size mattresses in the other. There is a futon also available for extra sleeping. The bar has seating for 4 and the kitchen table has seating for 4. The living area has a couch, loveseat, futon and 2 sitting chairs. There is also a really nice gas fireplace to enjoy on those cold days... The kitchen is completely stocked to accommodate for up to 8 guests. Included in your stay is all the linens, towels, paper products and cooking supplies. There is a gas grill with propane and a picnic table. The retreat sleeps up to 8 guests and is very spacious and accommodating. WiFi with Netflix Streaming is provided. There is a 60" HDTV in the living room, and a 46" in the bunk room. There is also a high efficiency washer and dryer available for your use as well. Pictured Rocks Cruise is only 15 minutes away and there are over a dozen waterfalls within a 30 mile radius. The National Lakeshore provides days worth of outdoor activities. The owner will meet with you after you arrive to provide you advice on the area and things to do as well as answer any questions you will have.

During summer months, 4 wheelers and side-by-sides have access to the trail a block away. We are just a short walk to beautiful Au Train Beach (the beach that EVERYONE goes to), which is directly across the highway. Enjoy the fire pit, the fireplace, or the game room when you aren't out and about seeing everything that the Munising and Au Train areas have to offer. Snowmobilers and ATVers will like the large garage that the property offers as a safe haven for their machines. You will have access to 2 of the 3 stalls for machine storage, complete with lighting for emergency repairs. Close to the beauty of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore (only 12 miles), but far enough away to get out of the busy town that Munising has become during summer! The downstairs bedrooms consist of three full and one queen size beds to offer plenty of privacy. Each of these bedrooms have a closet for hanging clothes, and shelves or dressers. Upstairs bedroom #1 consists of one full size bed and a bunk bed set, which is a twin over full, as well as a pack & play. This room has a large dresser and a closet for hanging clothes. This bunkroom is perfect for young families. Upstairs bedroom #2 consists of five twin size beds and one set of bunk beds. There is no closet or dresser in this room, but plenty of room under beds for suitcases and some wall hooks for hanging. Total beds by size - 1 queen, 4 full, 5 twin, 1 set of twin bunk beds, and one set of twin over full bunk beds. We provide all bedding, including sheets, pillows, blankets and comforters. The outdoor space features a large deck with patio furniture and umbrella, firepit, hammock, outdoor furniture and outdoor games. We offer a spacious lot for privacy. Take the time to walk the dunes of the beautiful Lake Superior shoreline across the highway. You won't see a better sunset or sunrise in your life! The kitchen features most amenities of home, but recommend that you bring paper plates and napkins so you can spend less time doing dishes. We provide a large refrigerator/freezer, gas stove/oven, dishwasher, and microwave, two coffee makers, a blender, electric griddle, pots, pans, and dishes. We offer two full bathrooms, each with a standing shower, sink/faucet, toilet and plenty of storage. We also have a half bath which includes a sink, toilet and mirror. We provide toilet paper, but DO NOT provide bath towels, wash clothes or hand towels. Don't forget to pack them! There is a cleaning fee of $225 for each rental. Pets cost an extra $25 each and the refundable damage deposit is $500. VRBO holds your $500 for seven days but will not charge your card unless there is a damage claim from the owner (extremely rare in our experience). When you go to the beach what do you want to see? THE BEACH, on crystal, clear blue Lake Superior. Our cottage is located in the village of Au Train where life's a beach! Whether its summer, fall or winter, nature is always inviting with its seasonal changes. It truly is an "out of city experience" for all seasons. There is nothing like a walk on the beach, a swim in crystal clear water, kayaking/canoeing and fishing til your heart's content, snowmobiling directly from cottage to trail, or just touring the area looking at the beautiful fall colors. Beautiful Lake Superior is the world's largest freshwater lake and it's just a hop, skip, and jump across the road! It is one of the most beautiful beaches in the Upper Peninsula. Our Cottage IS THE ONLY COTTAGE IN THE VILLAGE WITH A VIEW OF LAKE SUPERIOR! Enjoy the unique deck while gazing out onto the beautiful blue hues of Lake Superior and listening to the waves crashing against the shoreline. Imagine this moment! The cottage is set back in a private area off the road and adjoins the owner's property. Plenty of trees for a privacy buffer. The cottage is the only rental on the property, which makes for a private vacation experience. The cottage grounds has plenty of space for boats, snowmobile trailers, etc. The cottage is located on the DNR trail so there are snowmobiles or ATV's on the trail, especially on the weekends. The cottage has all foam insulation which deadens the sound, however, if you are looking for someplace out in the country where there is absolutely no noise, then this is not the place for you. We live next door and the noise doesn't bother us. It is all in the view and the location close to the Lake Superior beach and the the Au Train River that is important to us. In the winter, snowmobiling is directly out the front door. No need to trailer the machines. Ample parking for snowmobile trailers. Snowshoe or cross country ski down DNR trail #417 which runs adjacent to the property or across the sand dunes to experience Lake Superior's wild winter waves. Ice Climbing is also popular along the Pictured Rocks shoreline. We even have an Ice Fest weekend in February. About 20 miles away is a small community which hosts their famous 'Outhouse Races' the third week in February! Huge crowds come to watch home-made outhouses race down the streets of Trenary on a thick sheet of snow and ice. Kayak/canoe launch on the Au Train River across the street with fishing pier and handicap boat launch within 200 ft. Kayak down the famous Au Train River or out into the fresh clear water of Lake Superior. Great winds for kite surfers too! Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is a short 12 miles away which features the famous Pictured Rocks Boat Tours, Shipwreck Boat Tours, and hiking along Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. The UPSCALE cottage was just built in 2014 which features tongue and groove knotty pine vaulted ceiling in the living room/dining room and knotty pine hardwood flooring. Master BR features a hickory queen size platform bed with 6 drawers for storage and a closet. Second BR features one twin bunk bed and one full size bunk bed both made of solid pine and sturdy enough for adult use. Three drawers under twin bunk for storage. Bathroom consists of full sized washer & dryer and tub/shower combo. We even supply laundry detergent. Kitchen showcases new stainless steel range and a 6' counter for serving/eating meals. Some say the counter tops resemble birch trees. Plenty of cabinet space with Lake Superior rock drawer pulls on the cabinets. Refrig and built in microwave & dishwasher. Small appliances included too...slow cooker, Keurig, coffee pots, etc. Table seats 4-6 and counter seats 2-4. Bright beachy theme displaying Lake Superior photos. Large gas grill is available with propane included. We even provide wood for the fire pit! Our landscaping is a work in progress as we have to work in between our guests schedules. Our guests have commented, "We feel like we were the first ones here." I take much pride in keeping the cottage very clean for our guests enjoyment and comfort.
